Under rule 2.2.3R of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Conduct of Business Sourcebook, Glennmont Partners (“Glennmont”) is required to include on its website to make a disclosure about the nature of its commitment to the UK Financial Reporting Council’s Stewardship Code (the “Code”) or where Glennmont does not commit to the Code, its alternative investment strategy. The Code is voluntary and sets out a number of principles relating to engagement by investors with UK equity issuers.
The Code is directed in the first instance to institutional investors by which is meant asset owners and asset managers with equity holdings in UK listed companies. Whilst Glennmont is supportive of the objectives that underlie the Code, it has chosen not to commit to the Code. Glennmont does not currently invest in UK listed companies. Glennmont acts as an investment manager which invests in non-listed fixed assets that use proven technologies to produce renewable power. Glennmont’s overriding investment strategy is to add value over the long term.
Although Glennmont seeks to align its approach with the broad aims of the Code, the provisions of the Code are primarily not relevant to the type of investment activity currently undertaken by Glennmont. Should any of these factors change, Glennmont will review its commitment to the Code at that time and make appropriate disclosure.
